Exciting News!

I was very fortunate to have two images chosen for the Filter Photo Light Exhibition in Chicago! Thank you jurors and thank you David Weinberg gallery for hosting the exhibition.  I was sorry to miss the opening but if anyone is in Chicago this month - check it out.

And I was also awarded an artist in residence at the Jentel Program next year for 4 weeks in Wyoming. Yahoo!  Thank you Jentel.  I was amazed at how much work I was able to create at my past two residencies, the ideas are already churning on what the possibilities are in 2013.

More Drowning

As late summer frost starts to occur in the mornings, there appears to be more drownings in Lucy's water bowl, a boon in fact.  I've been able to rescue a few dragonflies and moths in time and place them on a rock in the sun.  These little creatures didn't make it.  They are so beautiful.

The Mighty Tieton

I am very fortunate to have three pieces from my Lucy's Water Bowl series chosen for the 10x10x10 Mighty Tieton show.  I was unable to attend the opening but will be viewing all the other incredible artwork and the show some time in September (anyone up for a road trip?).  The work is up until October 11 so if you are in the area, please stop by.  Thank you Mighty Tieton, I am honored.

The Walker Art Museum

I had the great fortune to spend a weekend in Minneapolis with my best pal Susanna Gaunt.  We soaked up art on all levels and I could have disappeared inside the Walker Art museum in fine "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" fashion.  I saw a lot of art.  This was one of the first things I saw in the coat closet.

Just when I thought I was done...

I've created two short videos on my experience at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming.  The first video is on the hanging of my show, Making Tracks in the fabulous Big Red gallery.  The second video resulted from a spontaneous shoot of the prints themselves, just when I was ready to let my images go something else came up to hold my attention and encourage me to look more.  Enjoy.

Where to go next

I just finished putting together an exhibition of over 50 images for the Ucross Foundation gallery in Wyoming.  It was exhilarating and exhausting.  Part of me wants to collapse on the couch and read trashy teen novels ( I've started the Mortal Instruments series ) and a bigger part of me is ready to dive head long in to something new.  I feel like the last few days have seen me heading down a dozen paths and all feel right - there are so many windows to open.

In case you find yourself in Wyoming

I am very grateful to have a solo exhibition at the Ucross Foundation in Ucross, Wyoming.  The work, Making Tracks, originated at Ucross in March of 2011 when I was an artist in residence with the foundation.  The show will be up in their fabulous gallery until June 8th so if you find yourself in Wyoming, please stop by.
(Ucross is about 30 miles east of Sheridan, WY)
